After some time of playing chess, i have seen many people make the move h6.

Can someone tell me what the point of the move is, and btw it is after someone has castled

Depends on the position, but normally, it's prophylaxis against Bg5 or Ng5, while also providing a getaway square for the king.

If an opponent just plays it randomly, then it is a random move, otherwise it is as HudsonBassett said.

Harry the H Pawn. Made famous by GM Simon Williams. If you play H6 you will never lose a game

Yeah that was what i was thiniking but has it ever happend that the h6 move has been played in a

"good" way. maybe a way to spark a winning attack

Its just a waiting move, defense against back rank mate, and prevention of bg5 or ng5

I remember thinking about h6 when i first started i was like "it doesnt break the pin", but in many cases you have the option of pushing g5 or making the bishop awkward sometimes the queen might go to a4 and it can become a target for example

You move a pawn to h6 to not get back-rank mated.

its true it makes loft but you could do that with f3 so its not completely honest, its a multipurpose move. Saying it stops backrank is like like saying f3 is just as good, js. But i did forget for a second it also stops backrank ngl

in the giuoco piano you push g5 after h6

f3 is worse for creating luft; it relinquishes some control over g4 and all of it over e4. h6 only reliquishes some control over g4

f3 is bad because it weakens the kings f3-a8 diagonal

Every move you play should be the best one. Don't play h6 (h3) if it's not the best one. That in essence is it. As MelvinGarvey already pointed out, as an opening move, h6 (h3) in 99% cases is a bad move, plus it makes your castle vulnerable.

Yes.

The sooner you take it seriously and stick to it the sooner you get on the track to become a better player.

i probably play h6 or its equivalent at least once in every game

I always have a knight on f3 so expanding with h3 and g4 is basically a given even in the less common openings

My friends, my English is not very good. Please tell me what exactly loft or luft means? And what does it mean when we say making loft? Does it mean a place or a way to escape?
Are these words English or from other languages entered into chess conversations?
