In 1925, Reti played against 30 players simultaneously without watching the chess board (blindfold). He won almost all the games. It was a world record. When he was going home after that, he forgot a suitcase. When somebody reminded him about it, Reti said:
"Thank you very much. My memory is so bad......"

I think you are confusing two stories however, because the scene took place during a game Nimzovitch-Vidmar.
Lasker was always smoking cigar during tournaments, that was part of his winning strategy.

I think that Tartakower and Tarrasch should be given a special prize, for sheer quantity of amazing quotes.

After a game (which ended in a complicated draw) Lasker and Mieses argued about the game. Mieses offered a suggestion which Lasker quickly dismissed. Mieses was offended and he told Lasker he was arrogant. Lasker replied "I don't believe my own thoughts. Why would I believe yours?"
