I've been really liking the French Advance as black lately, just because I read a book that had like four ideas that I could digest. Before that, I had read like half of an idea in the French one time. It's my current main weapon against 1. e4. My backup is the Caro-Kann, and I've felt pretty comfortable against most variations I run up against. The trickiest are the accelerated Panov (1. e4 c6 2. c4) and the Tal (1. e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3. e5 Bf4 4. h4) lines, so if you're thinking of playing the Caro-Kann, you'll want to prep something against those. I would play more Sicilian, but lately, I've just felt like I want to study more theory before I use it again -- and I'm spending more of my time studying endgames and pawn stuff right now, which seems more immediately useful than studying Sicilian stuff.
Probably as white, I'm really enjoying getting a Caro-Kann Fantasy (1. e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3. f3) where black actually takes 3... dxe4. I used to play the King's Gambit, so white opening the f-file and putting pressure on f7 is familiar territory for me.
Italian Game is solid, but if you're looking for something else, maybe look into the Caro-Kann?

Thank you very much busterlark for your time. Yeah French and Caro-Kann seem to be very interesting openings nice suggestions!
