What is your opinion on pawns?

They’re really good with cocktail sauce! Ba-da-dum!
Philidor is correct. When i analyze a game, i most often find that my errors involve misplacement of the little buggers. Used correctly, they can be of extreme importance. In a recent game, a pawn supported my queen in a checkmate. I’m learning to see the end from the beginning, where do i hope to have my pawns situated in the end game? I’m not yet good at it, but at least I’m becoming cognizant of their end game importance. That’s a good step forward for me.

They are an essential part of chess.
For example, if pawns couldn't be promoted to queens (or other pieces) most endgames would just be a draw.

That's what makes them so interesting. They look like the simplest pieces at first glance but once you learn more about the game you start to realize their true complex nature.

You're a pawn or 2 pawns down, and comp says it's equal. you know why? because Black has lots and lots of space, because he has no pawns! and White is stuck because of all the pawns!
But... there are lots of peasants - you can't 'just kill them', and they determine where the pieces are going, we have no choice... - a force to be reckoned with...
Pawns are the bones of chess. Pawn-Structure = Bone-Structure.
What happens to black in Polerino Defense when opponent trades all the pieces and you are down two pawns?
