On here or in real life?
In real life I'd like to hit 2000 some day. I'm not sure about here. I think 2000 otb is probably equal to 2200 or better on here. I'm too new to know, but when a 2129 USCF player gets to be 2500+ either he's ****ing or ratings are inflated. Let's assume they are inflated

yeah, same here. More realisitically though, I think I will be overjoyed if I ever get to 1800 fide, and my current target I guess is 1600-1650 fide, because a year or so ago 1600s seemed like a more within reach group of almost unbeatable players. I just made it to the dizzy heights of the 1500s, and I think the next year will be spent trying to stay there. 
My target rating would be between 2000-2200 F.I.D.E rating and 2400+ on this site. Of course this is a long term goal of about 5-10yrs, and life can happen in the mean time so i will do my best alittle bit at a time....
I'm shooting for 2000, hopefully within 4 years... it would give me a free ride to college!

my immediate target is at 1500-1600 2week to 4weeks time,
Of course my real target(so as eeryone) is at above the region of 2000

1400 to start, and then possibly around 1800. I don't feel real life will anymore than that. And 1800 will allow me to enjoy a game against either end of the spectrum. It will also give me a good foundation to teach my children when they are old enough.

That a good question,it all depend how much effort you put in it.At the moment I am 1400+ here I am hoping as high as I could go.
Why some of you guys go for second best like 1600-1800? why not aim for the top, you will be surprise how far you have come.

Mine is 2500+ FIDE rating by the time I die. 2000 by the end of the year on this site. On here i think i can get up to around 2500 in a few years.
I've been to 1800 but I couldn't maintain it. I'd like to play at the 1800 level consistantly. 2000 would really be nice but I don't think that's a realistic goal for me. At least not for now.
I would like to achieve the rank of National Master 2200+ in the USCF. I am playing Fritz 6 at 2100 ELO at 40m in 2h time control and have got a near win with white and held draw with black so far. I am training for the 2009 Us Open chess tournament in my miserable state of Indiana. I hope to collect enough scalps to bring home at least an expert ranking.

I have always thought I would like to be around 2000...
But then I might be 40 before I get there
