I am 52 have played for 2yrs and 9 months and want to hit 1700 by the end of 2009. I do not trust chess engines and cheating is totaly out of the question as any chess engine can be beaten by a solid player. keep your info updated, friend. Today we're discussing if any human on earth could draw against Rybka with pawn +move odds.
Stick Rybka on 100 Mhz Pentium and it is not so hot.
There is no exact point I want to reach, because I just want to progressively get better as I play more and more games. If I ever do "peak" it'll be a long, long, long time from now. :D

1500 on chess.com will be a good accomplishment for me. Once there, a slow climb to 2000. For sure all of the tools are here on this site to make your goal...

My overall highest rating was once 1824 - if I could surpass that, I'd feel rather accomplished with myself...
Even shooting for a little above 1900 - that would be really nice.
On this site, my next goal is 1750. I don't think I'm going to have a realistic shot at 2000, especially with all of my school work and college applications (ugh!)
When I join the USCF in the spring, I hope to have a real life rating of 1500 by the end of the summer. By the time I graduate from college, I want to be an expert.
Lifetime goal? It would nice to become a GM, but I know that's not realistic for me, especially with all of the studying it normally requires. If I become a titled player, I'll be perfectly happy.

u guys should stop worrying so much about ratings and just play chess. just enjoy it! that's most people's problem, to worried about ratings. oh, and I would like to be a solid 1800+ fide rated player some day.LOL. to much other things I enjoy in life than just chess. I think to do better than that u have to dedicate ur life to it.

My first target rating is 2000. After that, I'll aim for being the highest rated person on the whole site.
My USCF rating is 1789 now and i hardly spend any time studying. I have beaten my fair share of experts over the years so if i put the time in a rating of 2000 is well within my reach I would like to reach 2200, but the difference between a player rated 2000 and one rated 2250 is pretty good. The higher you get the harder it gets.I just recently started really trying to spend some quality time improving my game to see if i can reach 2000 by the end of 2009.

I'm currently right around 1500 on chess.com... I'd like to get to 1600 and hold it for a while. My long term goal is currently 1700. I don't think that any higher is realistic right now. If I get there I will definately reevaluate. I think setting realistic goals are important to improvement. Having said that I'm not going to stop playing lower rated players just to gaurantee that I can't drop in rating quickly.
