My rapid is 1775. What level am I( beginner, intermediate, or advanced)?

I think you are an early advanced player. 1775 is a very respectable rating.

"Self-described prodigy"

I feel like a prodigy wouldn't ask such an inane question.

It's a joke. I am hardly anywhere close to being a prodigy...

True, but you seem to go into quite a lot of detail in your profile about how clever and skilled you are lol, so posting a question like this doesn't exactly do anything to lessen those wannabe vibes lol

Anyway, ratings are relative. You're below average Fide (well below if you're in your early 20s), about average for a club player. To any titled player you're upper beginner, but you're advanced to people who haven't played much since they were a kid or are struggling to reach 1000 Elo. To me you're intermediate.

On chess.com intermediate to advanced. Not a beginner, not an expert or a master

You're in the top 1% of active players. Be proud of that. It's more meaningful than arbitrary categories like beginner, intermediate and advanced.

Online ratings are meaningless, to a degree, a USCF or FIDE rating OTB is a true reflection of your strength. Saying that 1700+ online is certainly advanced and better than possibly 70% of players

Pretty sure that's something only said by people with low ratings wink

@gabemiami10 sorry to burst your bubble mate, but 1300 is low intermediate at best :(

1800 Rapid is intermediate.

Rapid ratings are almost always ~200 points inflated. Blitz Rating is a better estimate of your strength as it signifies your ability to find good moves quickly.

2000 Rapid is knocking on the advance level door.

high beginner

Avatar of KnifeParty1302

0-800 - Low beginner

800-1000 - middle beginner

1000-1400 - high beginner

1400 -1600 - Low intermediate

1600-1800 - Intermediate

1800-2000 - High intermediate

>2000 - Advance

These are my approximation of course. Also, these are for rapid ratings

It depends on who you are comparing yourself with (rating pool/player pool). If you are comparing yourself to titled players, then 1700s is really low, but if you are comparing yourself to the global average of all chess players, then 1700s is really high.

Comparing to most player pools, 1700 would be considered "advanced."

Online ratings are likely a few hundred points higher than USCF or FIDE (or other OTB ratings), so maybe 1700 is about 1500 USCF or FIDE and 1500 is pretty respectable as a decent club-level player. This rating is unlikely to win any tournaments (unless for your section) because many are higher rated than this, but it is still high enough that you will probably crush the average "coffee house player" or even the average "tournament player."
