Chess for me has become the ultimate pastime. I realized that I'm spending an immense amount of time on chess and less on my other passion, reading. I love to read. I've read more books than college professors. I'm a huge Stephen King fan, hence the avatars and account name. The avatars is from the 1st pet semetary movie, and the name comes from the book. I wanted to share my other interest to show that the majority of chess players have other interests. I would love to hear what others do for entertainment, perhaps other things you are good at.

Reading (currently, "The Sword of Truth" series by Goodkind), square foot gardening,  disc golf, hiking, cycling, flea markets and yard sales, collecting unusual pieces of pre-WW2 porcelian from Japan, collecting the comic book series "The Nam" (I have a number of collections of different things), wood working, driving the county and township roads in Ohio at 35 mph with my wife, bird watching, Church (I am a lay minister), helping others learn chess, and generally enjoying the blessings of my life with my wife, being thankful for all the experiences that have brought me to this time and place.

Goodkind.  How BIG is that series??   I think it was a TV show when it 1st started.   I heard there's a comic book series about The Wheel Of Time too.  I like to build Revell models when I'm not fighting with my drums

Good posts! Small things are what make life more enjoyable to me. When I'm having a cup of coffee I feel like it's the first time. I love reading too, but lately I'm focused in Anthropology about Galicians, since I'm unable to figure them. And I have +2900 Elo points giving back rubs.

Don't really know if it was a series on TV. I found the first book in the series at a yard sale and then got the rest of then through the local library. I think there are at least twelve in the series, maybe more. It's a great story about freedom and the human spirit. I would recommend it.

The next time I go to Barnes & Noble, I'll try to count them.  I think the TV series came from Canada or Europe.  thanks.

Annoying the pompous asses who post on Chess.com. It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it.

Other than play chess, I follow the NASA news, enjoy the black holes, dark matters, super novae stuff;  a day trader by profession; gambling every week ; study religions, swimming. I like all kinds of food , eat out a lot.  Man, this is life.
