I would say about 1750, but my brother says that's to low. Who do you agree with?
What rating does a GM consider
So does that make most people on here beginners?
Regardless of what a GM considers intermediate, I think the answer to that would have to be a big fat obviously yes
A GM running into a thread about how exactly en passant works would be like a music lover starting a conversation with a professional musician by saying they also enjoy and play music, and upon asking what they play the person says "oh, I like the c note." "Have you ever tried a chord?" the musician humors him. The response: "no, nothing fancy like that, I just play the one."
I made the example en passant, but this could be any beginner question or any position/idea you or I find complex/interesting. Not only will it be so barely related to the game play of chess as a GM plays it as to be almost off topic entirely, it will be completely uninteresting.
That's how I see it.

I just want to know what a GM considers intermediate, approximately. 1800, 2000, or what?

Yeah, I'm with goldendog -- although I'm obviously not a GM so I can't say for sure. I've heard them talk about when they reached a first category player as if it was the first milestone from passing from beginner to at least something. First category is around 2000-2100, what the USCF would consider an expert.
I'd expect such a player to have a chess.com turn-based rating of at least 2300, although we all know there is no direct comparison.

An intermediate. If a a IM or GM refers to somebody as an "intermediate" what rating would that be, approximately?
