play many 500 rated players...if you want your strength to improve learn some opening lines to get into better middlegame positions...now those tactics will come into play☺ ...learn tactical themes like pins, forks, skewers etc.😉
What's the best way to up my rating fast?

I've got all the tactics etc down (even got my first combo w/ queen sac yesterday!!) I feel the quickest way to improve both rating and skill is to play -50 to +400, which seems to be the top possible range I can select on custom. Am I right? How many points should I be getting per win? (I'm averaging +10/-5 at the moment). Thanks

forget about the rating...especially online ratings...they mean nothing☺ and yes...playing against some 800s to 1000s should be great for you but also play time controls which allow you time to think...dont hang pieces...without direct blunders you have a fighting chance...make sure none of your pieces are hanging before you move...and make sure your king is safe...i neglect king safety and this gets me in trouble...dont make the same mistake haha

Looking at your games the first suggestion would be: Stop hanging your pieces!
No bruh, he's got ALL the tactics down.

1. Create several hundred alternative accounts.
2. Play your main account against these alternative accounts, intentionally throwing the game.
3. Repeat. Harvest rating points.
4. Eventually the rating increase will slow down, due to the nature of the rating system. You can counter this by creating a 'secondary' main account, which you boost in the same way. This secondary account will soon have a rating close to your main account. You can then play your main account against this secondary account, and gain rating points faster again.
5. Repeat.
6. Depending on how much time you put into boosting your rating, in just a few weeks you could have the highest online rating ever recorded.
That's by far the best way to increase your rating. Now, if you want to increase your actual playing skill, that's a different topic.

SmithyQ I think it'd be quicker to use a cheat engine to win every game on a single account. Obviously not my point.

hahahaha solid advice

I don't think anyone has got all the tactics down - thinking that you do will hamper your progress.

I apologize, I've seen so many of these topics and I just wanted to have some fun.
I looked at a few of your games. You play the opening fairly decently: you go for the centre, you develop pieces, Knights before Bishops, good stuff. You suffer from typical beginner mistakes: overlooking moves, miscalculations, that sort of thing. Most of that will come with experience. Seriously, if you play 100 quick games, you'll start seeing many of the threats that you are overlooking just by osmosis, so that's encouraging.
If I were to give more specific advice, I'd suggest moving slower. Looking at your time, you tend to rush, playing very quickly even when you have 15min total. The more you look at a position, the more you'll see and the more you'll understand, and you'll improve in the long-term faster.
Finally, make sure, after every move, you ask, "What is his threat?", and before your every move, ask, "Is there anything I can attack?" If you can get these thinking habits now, as a beginner, you'll improve so much faster later. Good luck.
