what about the accounts made in 2009 that haven't been on since they joined?
What should happen to players who haven't been on chess.com for a while?

oh yeah those there are so many of those

Hello chess.com. I was wondering whether you think anything should be done to members who haven't been online for years. Do you think that their accounts should be partly closed?
yeah I think either there should be a time limit for the amount of time you have been inactive for or yeah possibly partially closed

why? it's not like chess.com cares, they are members and they count as members. "The more members the better" Is the motto for most clubs, I am guessing chess.com thinks the same way

But there could be a way to keep the member but temporarily close the account. Less accounts... but the same amount of members if you see what I mean. I'm sure it gives chess.com a benefit, not having to check up on inactive accounts, and it may make the site safer and less prone to hacking

they should delete those if they haven't been on for at least 5 years
No! Please don't delete someone's hard work just because they have been inactive for a few years. Imagine playing thousands of games, leaving chess for some reason (maybe for work or family issues), and return to find that all of your history and past games have been erased. It would be a terrible feeling, even more so than losing a winning position in bullet due to time.

I agree that Chess.com should close inactive accounts to an extent, but please have respect for those who have moved on.

Well, they are talking about the people who joined on one day and never logged in again. Mostly people from 2009.
You know what I heard before, though? Chess.com staff made the accounts to make it so basic member names such as @Mommy, @daddy, @sheriff or @Someone Cannot be used and you have to have numbers after it. I don't know why Chess.com would care, but apparently they wanted everyone to have numbers in their names

Some of those names are closed, others are semi active... (like last year logged in) one got closed for abuse
