what should I do more often games or puzzles?
Games.
The essence of improving is to play, and analyse your lost games so as to learn from your mistakes: avoid similar mistakes in the future and exploit similar mistake by your future opponents.
Tactics puzzles are overrated. In a real game nobody tells you there is a tactic, or for whom.

tygxc: "Puzzles are overrated."
also tygxc: Has done over 2,000 puzzles and still does puzzles to this day, as recent as Feb. 11, 2024, lol.
Well, perhaps they know that they should play more games but they don't.

I have played more rapid games 3,727 than I have solved puzzles.
Solving 4 puzzles is a good warm-up, but that is it.
Soccer players practice penalty kicks, but these are not soccer.

You just made an argument that supports practicing tactics puzzles. The whole point is that they do tell you there is a tactic, and thus train your pattern recognition for when you play against a person and nobody will tell you there is a tactic.

Exactly. The more I practice puzzles, the more often I recognize the same patterns in a game. Hence the love of both. The complement each other.

Aim for a balanced approach. Dedicate a portion of your chess practice time to playing games and another portion to solving puzzles.
