What to Do Against People Who Don't Resign

That is disrespectful, the way he wasted 5 minutes at the end, he had mate in 1 so many times. Very poor sportsmanship.

Why do people not resign after they lose all of their pieces??

just mate them. without pieces it's easy.

probably because they want to play. idk

I feel a bit sorry for the guy who won, but it was all self inflicted pain. The guy losing only had to move the King from square to square, the guy winning really overcomplicated his route to mate and wasted 5 minutes of his life with no pay off.

you might think it's not pay off, but part of it is just simple entertainment. With that logic then people who run charity "waste their time for nothing".
And overcomplicating the win is what was the "second win" in the same game.

I don't get what entertainment he has from delaying mate, it's no issue for his opponent to move king from square to square. Foregoing a mate in 1,50 times is not a win under any definition. It certainly is poor sportsmanship.

Because they can.

He's entertaining the chat (if he was streaming), and the youtube comments are all about people who were laughing, so hambleton obviously succeeded. And besides, I think anyone would play on in a position where your opponent promotes all his pawns just to see what kind of position you'll get

People who run charities provide a service, that's the pay off.
Hambleton provides entertainment service and gets paid for it

What do you what you do? You do what you're supposed to do, you checkmate them.
Well...if it's a blitz game where you don't have much time you mate them and if it's an OTB tournament game you mate them...and if not then you sadistically punish them for not resigning and make them play for a long time, and finally deliver an artistic mate.

If he gets paid for his channel and prolonging checkmate is a way for him to entertain his channel, fair enough. I don't see how it's entertaining, I do see how it's poor sportsmanship. But if he's getting paid he probably doesn't care.

@fizzyband it isn't a punishment. He's moving his King from one square to another, there's no pain, no suffering, no punishment, just merely moving a king from one square to another.

I just watched the video...really good stuff...You gotta appreciate setting up the pieces like that.

I was impressed at how calm he was under time pressure at avoiding stalemate. A majority of players on this site aren't capable of that kind of play, they will stalemate.

I once saw a sadistic punisher grinning like a cheshire cat right up to the time his opponent announced stalemate.
