What is the Icelandic Gambit?
What type of player am I?

I took a look at some of your blitz games and you play quite tactically, you seem unafraid of complications/combinations/sacrifices etc. There's lots of gambit openings that would suit your style after 1 e4. The King's Gambit and Evan's Gambit are excellent choices for aspiring tactical wizards. As Black you might consider the Poisoned Pawn and Polugaevsky Variations of the Najdorf Sicilian.

Prawn - what if White doesn't play 6.Bg5? heh.
Well Black has to have other weapons in his arsenal, but one step at a time, eh?

I've always struggled more against 1 d4 for adequate choices... I play the Modern Benoni because I've always played it (it was better 30 years ago), but nowadays better lines have been found for White and it's very difficult to come out of the opening equal. You could take a look at the Albin Counter-gambit, I've been trying it out recently (not fully convinced), it leads to interesting and unbalanced games. Would you like links to some of my Albin Counter Gambit games?

I have a general idea of what it is. I think black pushes his d-pawn, protects it, and tries to split white's defence in to two. In any case, a link would be great :)

All fairly brutal affairs.
p.s. the two games I play as Black I pull off the "Lasker trap"... you would not believe how many intermediate players fall for that.
As white, I play King's Gambit, Ruy Lopez, Yugoslav Attack, and Queen's Gambit.
As black, I play King's Indian Defense, French, Sicilian Dragon/Accelerated, and the Icelandic Gambit.
I'm interested in what sort of player I am and what types of games/openings I could transpose in to for best possible results.
Thanks :)
