What weaknesses Carlsen have?

Please tell ..

pdve

he is completely the most superior player at present so it is hard to say what his weakness is. if he does have any weaknesses then they have not been exposed or exploited by any of his opponents yet.

he does admit that he doesn't know a lot of opening theory and tries to stay away from theoretical lines. but if you ask me that could be his very strentgh.

He is great.

But as an Indian I wish Anand.

I do not know what exactly in Anand's mind. But he is professional chess player. I wish if he could win this tough games.

Carlsen is still in the mode of being a chess prodigy and not a seasoned player. Prodigal chess champions have traditionally had a difficult experience winning super tournaments even though they can be lethal in single matches vs. GMs and National Circuits. He will fail to beat Anand because of his lack of opening theory and his problems off the board, such as not wanting to play in Chennai.

Without opening theory...?

I believe Anand is more professional in this regards

He plays Slav ,Gru:nfeld and QGD

Then we would think Carlsen would be lethal against Anand, no? Whereas he would be having difficulty winning super-tournaments ... by your qualifier, he is more like a seasoned player than a prodigy! Although I agree, he is much more like a prodigy in his attitude of playing. The difference is that prodigies are not likely to win matches against top players, they are more likely to win Super tournaments instead.

But at Anand's current age and in his current form, whether he can win is dubious ... I think Carlsen will be an extremely tough contender. Carlsen is not the only one with mental difficulties ...

Carlsen is already the best tournament player on earth, and has been for years. You should look at his record in super-tournaments. He wins themWink

A machine has no weakness.

It is good to have a match with a new face.

What his creativity (new ideas in opening and middle game) is concerned, I personally do not see Carlsen as being close to other figures in chess history, such as Steinitz, Tchigorin, Lasker, Aliechine, Capablanca, Botvinnik, Tal, Fischer, Kasparov.

What makes him so successful is that he makes less mistakes than his opponents, he is able to look at every position during the game with fresh eyes.

Because of his amazing talent, I hope, he will improve.

Carlsen is a great player but it seems to me that he needs to work more in psychological issues that in openings.

Inconnux

Carlsens only weakness... he won't play a WC match in India.

ilgambittoo

But we Indians love Carlsen as much as anyone else

Carlsen's weaknesses include his openings, and his over-confidence. Several times, he has reached an absolutely dominating position against someone and then botched it by moving too fast.

Of course, his confidence is part of what makes him such a great player. And he plays the opening in a lackluster fashion in part because he knows he's better than his opponent in unusual positions. But those flaws show up when he's playing opponents such as Kramnik. We'll see whether they are fatal against Anand.

Ivanchuck showed us that Carlsen is a human after all.

Yes, the man is human. And, like all past players will lose during course of play at times...? but when.

1) Relatively (for his level) weak opening preparation

2) Limited experience in playing matches

3) Overconfidence - sometimes backfires against weaker opponents

4) Psychological stability - unknown. It looked like he had steel nerves until he lost two games out of three in the Candidates

Carlsen plays closer to an engine than his competitors.

(Shown by the London tournament, where he had many coincidences with moves of Houdini).

Is  he real ? I want to believe it.

But the higher and higher price money will produce GMs who have a chip in their ear, or even in their brain.
