He never played rated games (that we know of), therefore "unrated".
Kid without computer and internet training, likes chess, but we never see him with a chessbook or anything ~ 800-ish ?

No its just regular chess.
The "wizard chess" part is an enchanted chess set where the pieces move on their own, and for some reason Ron rides one of the pieces, and its not even the king. It still does regular chess moves though.
