Ive never really got the buzz about blitz chess, i prefer more of a slower game where i can think my movements throu you know, if ive learnt something i wanna make sure i execute it properly and not just play wot ever comes to mind.

Any one else feel the same?

Yes I aagree with you. I am a lousy blitz player, I have two choices, blundering or timing out.

I also prefer slower games, but I understand the appeal of a faster game. Sometimes it's hard to play turn-based games where you have to leave and come back, and it can be hard to find time to sit down for an entier longer game. But for me, I still rather take my time, make copious notes, and play the best chess I'm capable of (which isn't all that good).

blitz blitz blitz.  even 3 mins too long. i am a busy guy. go go go. this is the 21st century. no one has an attention span anymore. even capital letters take too long.

blitz is about internalizing and intuitionalizing chess. there is time to calculate 2-5 times in the game. the rest of it you play from sheer "feel". i for one enjoy that a LOT :)

blitz can be great practice, for openings and tactics.

but i get too nervous while playing and eventualy blunder if facing an experienced opponent.
