That's just one hand.

Think about it.

If you don't understand the mathematics and analysis that goes into poker, there's no point explaining.

Poker's a game of skill.

For anyone who doesn't think so, I'd love to play with you some time.

Very simple thought experiment.  Imagine playing 1 billion poker hands against this opponent.  You will (on average) be on both sides of that AA vs 72o occurence the same number of times.

Now, let's say each time you have 72o, you immediately fold, and each time your opponent has 72o, he tries to bluff you, you reraise, and he folds.

Can you see how playing the hands differently will allow one player to win more money than the other, but the luck is hardly a factor at all?

There's a lot of strategy in poker. (Trust me I played Texas Hold em' for one strait week till 11' o clock, won ever single timeCool with strategy.)

Chess is the art of intereptting known data. All the pieces are there on the board. Nothing is hidden. The winner is the player who reads those pieces best.

Poker is the art of managing unknown factors. You never know for certain what your opponent is holding. That is why the cards have backs on them. The winner is the pkayer who can best calculate what his opponent is PROBABLY holding.

It requires a lot of positional strategy but still there is a chance it will go wrong, so I guess you have a point. In chess if you see a position you can FORCE something. In poker you can't force anything (unless you cheat or play govener of poker 2.) Like that time some one (a world champian) said,"And therefore I was able to deduce a forced checkmate in 24 moves," .......................................................................................(Giant silance while audience thinks in awe about who this is) and then I remember it's Kasperov. I think his name is spelled wrong.

Yes a week. Although I was playing against  my dad so maybe that doesn't count.

If you don't know who Doyle Brunson is, you don't know much about poker:

Poker sucks.
Chess sucks less.

Dan Harrington is a world champion poker player as well as a master class chess player. If you read any of his poker books there are many chess skills that can be applied to poker.

Can we delete all of these chess/poker threads except for 1?

How many of these threads do we have?
