What's the difference...?

Hello Chess.com! My name is Dennis and this is my first topic on the forums. First of all, I want to say how glad I am that I found this amazing site! Sealed

OK, I'll get to my question now - I've played a couple of Live Chess games since I became a member on Chess.com, but I never noticed that there were two different types of Live Chess: Standard and Blitz, until I looked at my profile homepage just now. I first noticed that my ranking, which I thought was -900, was suddenly 1200. I didn't win any games yet so I wondered why that was. So my real question is this: what is the difference between Standard and Blitz Live Chess? While playing, I haven't noticed anything about it at all... I know I have made a few challenges by creating a Live Chess match myself but I've also accepted some by clicking on a created match on the screen that shows all games playing or to be played.

If anybody could tell me what the difference is, I would really appreciate it! Smile

Standart you get 15 min or more on 1 game

Blitz 2-10 minutes is blitz

What does it mean in live chess when it says 15/10  or 2/1?

Blitz is anything from I think 3 minutes up till 14 minutes.

Standard is anytthing above 14 minutes.

Note that if you play something like 12|10 and you make more than 13 moves you proceed the initial 14 minutes and I think the outcome of the game will automatically affect your standard rating and not your blitz.
