There is no point of studying openings for amateurs.
A rating of 469 is a sign of frequent blunders.
Always check your intended move is no blunder before you play it.
That little mental discipline alone is enough to get to 1500. Hang no pieces, hang no pawns.

I mean specifically as a beginner. I've been told by a few people here that I should choose an opening that suits me or practice a specific opening and focus on it. I've done that with the Italian and Fried liver attack but it hasn't improved my ELO in the slightest.
With most openings you basically rely on your opponent to follow through as well so if I go for a King's pawn then the opponent goes for a scandinavian defense, or even if they follow through with their pawn but instead of protecting it with a knight, they do something wildly different, there goes any chance of attempting to follow the italian I spent days studying the history and practice of.
Especially facing lower rated players, you're heavily unlikely to be met with anything coherent or following the typical structure that most openings rely on and there's so many openings, attacks, gambits, etc. that there's no way someone with a 400 elo is gonna just magically be able to memorize them all and what to do about them in less than at least a few months to years. All these people saying "practice x opening and you'll be 1000 in no time" are so full of poop.
I get opening principles. Following those has kept me from dropping below 400 at least because they are solid in general even through the midgame, but practicing specific openings just seems counter-productive at this level.
Also I think that's another thing is focusing specifically on the opening creates that "Tunnel Vision" Gotham talks about in his videos at least early on. As aformentioned, I've been studying and practicing the Italian and notably the Fried liver attack and because of "tunnel vision" i was taken aback when my opponent made an obvious blunder and just let them take my queen when it wasn't necessary.
