What's with player etiquette?

Why do some players 'disconnect' when they're getting their butt whooped? There is the 'resign' button you know? I actually had one player, from Egypt, cause me to wait for over 17 minutes (I play 30 minute rapid), until the clock was down to about 30 seconds, then he moved, then I was able to administer the Coup de Grace. Did he really believe I would just quit or something? Usually, it's when you're spanking a player higher ranked than you. I noticed those 1200+ players are particularly prissy about playing or getting crushed by under 1200 players. Well, I finally just broke 1200, and I won't treat my brethren under 1200 any differently. I'll respectfully resign if you smash my face in.  BTW, I love the 'block' feature, ensuring that I can banish the indecent from the privilege of ever playing me again.
