When and why did you guys start to play chess?

Like, do you guys remember when you actually started playing chess tho??? Cuz there is some sweaty asses that probably never get off of online chess but are 1700 bullet and 1000 rapid (Kids, am i right?). 
For me, well.... I started playing chess at like 7 or 8 when my grandfather taught me (he's still alive. no this is not emotional. Not yet atleast) just for no reason. He thought it was a fun game (the only one he knew) and decided to let me learn it. It was confusing af at first and I didn't win a single Effing game at first against him. That's all i played for like 2-5 years more. In the middle i discovered chess bot that was default in my 10 year old laptop (that broke after i jumped on it.) and never defeated it even in easy mode. I didn't take chess seriously and literally effing everybody defeated me (except for my brother, he didnt know how to play. thats why). I was like 200 elo back then. but then 3 years before, my friend who was 1300 asked if i knew chess, and when i said yes, he introduced me to this website. We played multiple games and guess what...
I effing lost what do u think happened? 
Since then i've been improving by watching tutorials an dplay a lot of games and being addicted to chess during the pandemic like how i was meat riding valorant. 
I started to enjoy chess in bullet and i defeated my friend in bullet a couple of times. But in rapid and blitz he felt like magnus (the only chess player i knew) in his prime (still the GOAT). 
After that ill keep it short. i practiced a lot, got into state chess championships, my team lost horribly. But yeah... I've hit 1600 rapid after 3 years of working. Bt i ve still not defeated me friend other than in speed chess... (hes effing 18-1900 elo stfu). 

But have you guys had THAT MOMENT? Like when you felt like Tsukishima from haikyuu when he blocked Ushikawa's strong spike (only legends know). During 1100 elo i played two brilliant moves in a row and i wass effing jumping up and down after reviewing the game. It was not that special now that i looked back at it, but this improvement is what i enjoy. to know that i have the potential to keep growing if i work hard and i have the facilities as well is soo lucky and im happy.
