Hello

i applies to be a Club TD And am waiting to hear back.  We have our own club But it’s not yet affiliate as we never hosted a rated tournament.

we would like to host rated uscf tournament during this time and I volunteered to be the TD.

Assuming that our club submit affiliation with uscf  and it all goes through. After getting certified as a club td - how soon can we host uscf tournaments? I couldn’t find this answer online and someone told me a club td is not sufficient to submit results and it must have some experience in other tournaments first, is that true ?

thanks

OTB, as soon as you have a paid affiliate and a certified TD, immediately. For Online rated events under the online rating pools, if you want to hold events here, there are some other things you'll probably want to do, and if you want to do cash prizes here , you'll have to be approved.

But otherwise, it is suggested to have previous experience, but a club TD can run and submit events as soon as they have the access. You will be restricted on the number of players, but that information is in the rulebook.

Thanks.  That fits what I read but Some exisiing TD insist that I have to be a TD once at some event before I can do it.

I want to host online rated tournament under the quick rating pool - it should also be immediately after I become a club td?

Yeah, that TD was incorrect that you had to have previous experience to run an event. It is probably best, to get some experience, but not required by any means. I ran my first event with just the rulebook and a club TD certification.

For Online rated, you should be able to do the same under the Online Quick rating pool (or Online Blitz).

When you say “here”, you mean chess.com, right ?

Thanks. That make sense. One other thing i am unable to find info for is the price. When you host a tournament, suppose there are only 10 players.  Do you have to pay USCF for each "player" thats registered? If so, is that paid AFTER submitting the results, in the TD/Affiliate area?

Thanks

Through the end of May, Online rated events are free. After that promotion ends, the rating fee is the same as OTB at $0.25 per rated game, with a minimum of $3

And yes, it is paid after releasing the event for rating.

Thank you - our club is now affiliated. I will just wait for my TD App to be granted and then proceed. Thank you for your help.
