I started playing chess back in 2012, there was a club close to my place, I'd always be mesmerized to watch all those 'enthusiasts' coming to this particular place on weekends to have a gathering, and discuss chess! Interestingly enough, I'm hyperactive (AuDHD) and somehow managed to sit in a place for an hour, or just more than an hour every Sundays, and then started to read the notation and then, started to study from the books. That's how it began!
You'd do just fine, I wish you luck on this journey.
When did you start playing Chess, and why?

I'm curious. When did you first learn to play chess, and what motivated you to learn?
I got into chess in November 2022 when I first downloaded Chess.com. I played just to play at first, not studying or following a plan. I just kept hopping into games and figuring things out as I went. After a few months, I kept getting handed L's, and my rating started to drop. I didn’t know how to improve, so I just stopped playing for a few months.
Recently, though, I’ve approached the game with a different mindset. Instead of blindly jumping into games, I've been studying openings, grinding puzzles, reading and listening to chess content, and playing consistently. I’ve started focusing more on strategy, reviewing my games, and learning different tactics and positions—just immersing myself more in the game and environment.
Eventually, the goal is to start playing OTB and get myself a FIDE rating.
