When You Play Online Chess, Do You Have the Need to Replay the Last Few Moves?

Or are you able to to evaluate the position regardless of what was played before that?

Myself, I feel that I'm a "dynamic" player and the choice of my next move depends on what I played before.

Not really, but that could have to do with the fact that I rarely play more than a couple of games simultaneously, and I'm usually plenty familiar with the moves played up to that point.

Scientifically though I think there is no point in examining how a position was arrived at. All the same possibilities exist in that position no matter how it got on the board.

The only exceptions being if you have to avoid a 3-fold repetition/50 moves without a pawn move or capture, if castling rights are different, or, the most important, if you currently have the option for en passant.

Sometimes, but not very often.

After 3 days, of course replaying the last moves will remind you about your plan. Sometimes had to write the idea, threat, etc. before sealing the envelope ;D That's what I don't like with long time control.

Coopah

Yes I will look back a couple of moves to see what my plan was or to see what my opponents plan might be.

Knightmage

Yes, just to remind myself what I was up too.

True.
