Some GM's are making a fortune in currency trading...most I know of are very private, solitary individuals. Then there is Gary Kasparov, an activist with political opinions which are dangerous in Russia. Ask a GM why he is not on forums...I would like to hear the answer. I imagine it would be something like, "Chess? Oh yes, a simple game really. It is not my job to educate people. I have recently taken up Ping-pong."
Where are the grandmasters on the forums?

GM Zod used to post here, then GM Superman came and punched him in the teeth so hard that his rating fell to club level.

maybe we can summon him? we want zod, WE want zod, we want Zod, WE WANT ZOD, (everybody, louder) WE WANT ZOD, (in 3-part harmony) WE WANT ZOD, WE WANT ZOD, WE WANT ZOD

They are too busy for you. How else would they write books on the Martian Gambet Declined variation of the Sicilian opening?

They're here, but incognito. All GMs are allowed two accounts. So they use the titled one for not playing chess and having a cool profile, and with the other they troll, get drunk and and lose a lot of games to keep their alibi watertight. Right, macer?
THis is true. I am Magnus Carlesen.
Here is my picture if you don't believe me.

I knew it! You told me when I was coaching you, right! I am Garry Kimovich Kasparov!

With all due respect, hey Magnus, turn that frown upside down...
I think it would be easier to just turn him upside down:
Imagine this:
Beginner: "Help me improve, I really like chess!"
GM: "Practical advice, work hard, etc."
Beginner: "That's interesting."
1200 rated player: "Play 2.Qh5 like Nakamura, I win all the time!"
Beginner: "Oh wow, thanks, I'll definitely do that"
GM: "Umm, don't do that."
1200 rated player: "Check out my 3 minute game, I got this good by memorizing the fried liver out to 20 moves."
[Game is not the fried liver, and contains multiple game losing blunders]
Beginner: "That game is great, I hope I can play that well one day, I'll definitely switch to 1.d4 and play the fried liver like you!"
GM: [Never comes back]
