Use the tactics trainer for starters.
I recommend using Chess mentor. I like the way it teaches and plays out.

I just joined chess.com as a platinum member, and I'm kind of overwhelmed at the amount of educational material that's on the site.
I'd consider myself a late beginner/early intermediate level player. Playing against my iPhone, which uses the TIGER chess engine, I can consistently win games at 1690 ELO.
My question is- where should I begin? Should I start memorizing openings? Can someone recommend a particular series of videos that are a good starting point?
Any input/direction would be appreciated. Thanks!
