Where to start as a total beginner

Hey, i used to play a little bit a while ago, and i'm looking to get back into it, but i consider myself quite the beginner. My everything is bad, even before when i stopped last time i was pretty bad haha.
So as a total beginner, where do i start learning to improve, and what resources do i use. Is there good books you know of, a really good place to learn tactics, do i learn an opening, no opening, multiple openings, etc?
