Which time control do you recommend playing for improvement?

Hello!

I was wondering what time control is best for improvement so I can improve at chess. Currently I am obsessed with Blitz and Bullet but I do not know if those are the best for improvment.

If you REALLY want to improve in chess, you definitely MUST stop playing bullet. Play at least 15+10. Use your time on every move. Analyse carefully every single game you played. Try to remember your mistakes. Study basic endgames. Practise them (“drills” on chess com.) solve tactic puzzles a lot. If you fail to solve, study right solution carefully. Search for tactics not only for you, but also fot your oponent. Do all this every day.

15|10 is the best time control for progress.
It is the standard rapid time control like for the Rapid World Championship.
Thanks to the increment you have 10 seconds/move to win a winning position or draw a drawing position.
It is worthwhile to analyse your lost games.

If you aren't a strong player you will not be able to learn fom blitz, whereas bullet is completely useless for learning chess. Anyone who plays bullet is actively preventing themselves from improving .... it's only a bit of fun. Play rapid, at least 15 mins per player, since 10 mins is officially and correctly a blitz speed. Preferably 20 minutes to half an hour per player. No need to bother with increments. Also you could play Daily 3-day because it really helps you to analyse properly and after the game you go over it with the aid of the analysis tool or if you're a weak player, then use Game Review.

Generally the longer the better. I improved by playing 10|0 and 3|0

Hi,

At your level, playing bullet and blitz will actually interfere with your learning chess. Play a slower time control—perhaps 20 or 30 minutes—that will give you time to think about your moves. Also, at your level you will learn more from playing over the games of masters than you will by playing other beginners.
good luck.

Mix longer time control games with some blitz for variety and to practice quick thinking. For example, play a few rapid games during the week and save blitz for fun or when you have limited time.
