Me personally, I admire very much Jose Capablanca!
He had so much command of chess and his books and games resonate even 100y later!
His endgames are the stuff of legends, and his chess wisdom dominated the early (first 2-3 decades) of the 20th century and he elevated the game by his playing...
If I had to pick a "chess hero" of sorts, it would be Capa!
