Who would win if they were still playing?? Kasparov or Fischer?

If these men were still alive, and considering that both of them received the title "immortal", who would win?? These were both immensely good players.

No, Fischer died

If they were both in their primes, able to study for each other I think Kasparov would win. I think he was the better at preparing for a specific opponent. Without all the preparation Fischer wins. This is like comparing boxing greats from different eras. You really can't know how they would handle each other. It's fun sometimes though.

Kasparov passed away Nov. 21, 2017. RIP Garry.

Kasparov, easily. Fischer was completely nuts when he died in 2001. It’s hard to imagine him being more than 2200 today if he had lived, the way his mind was.

Actually the reason he was so great at chess is *because* of the way his mind was.

A better question to ask is would win in a match where the were both at their peak.  Hard to say really.  Kasparov was the best prepared player in his generation. Take him out of the opening and I give the nod to Fischer.

If you want to have a match that measures the ability of each player, then chess960 is the best way to do it.
