It removes the only defender of the dark squares around the king.

I play the Pirc/KID a lot, and I've noticed a lot of opponents use this move where they battery the Queen and Bishop on my g7 Bishop. Why? What is my opponent hoping I do?
I usually ignore it and wait for them to take - I'm just not understanding what my opponents are hoping to gain out of that move.
