I can find some alright moves in rapid and slower time controls(like 30 mins, 60 mins etc) but i am very horrible in blitz chess and my blitz rating is easily 250 or more lower than my slow time control ratings....is it normal? i would assume it would be the other way around for most people. Any tips?

Its completely normal. There is no need for you to be worried. And as a beginner, you must focus only on the longer time controls. As you play more, have more experience, and improve on your game in the longer time controls, as a result your pattern recognition gets better and you will eventually get better at the slower time controls too. Just don't worry.

Thanks for the encouragement. I am not a beginner but i do play like one in fast chess sad.png I can't see any of my opponent's threats. Maybe i need to practice calculating very fast during my analysis so as to bring it in my habit

Still better than me, and I've been playing for over 25 years....

I have the same problem the more the time decrease the more my rate decrease.

seems the opposite for me, rapid games are more frustrating like when you make mistakes and you spend lots of time hoping to capitalize on your opponents mistake while in blitz I can jump right back in. You seem to be over 250 points rated in blitz so..... but anyhow rapid games are bit tiring for me

Don't worry, if I were you, I'd just focus on rapid/daily games. I'm actually the opposite; I'm generally better at blitz/bullet rather than rapid, and let me tell you, I would much rather be in your situation. Although if you really want to improve in your fast chess, I suggest playing lots of Puzzle Rushes and using premoves in your games whenever possible. Good luck!

Thanks for the tips, i did not have my premoves enabled so maybe that is one of the reasons why i am struggling a lot in fast games
