There have always been draws in championship matches. The reason they are so magnified in this instance is because of the brevity of the match. If there are 24 or even 30 games, then 10-12 draws allows for 10 or more wins/losses. With only 12 games that cuts down on the chances for great games.
they should play a different opening

GMs draw more than they win or lose.
Comparatively weak players like you and me have 2% draws, 49% wins, and 49% losses
Top GMs are more like 60% draws, 25% wins, and 15% losses.
