Why are chess players Arrogant? Even patzers

What is it about chess that makes alot of people become arrogant like Kasparov and fischer? or like Giri. Even us patzers. I say this because I catch myself having that feeling of being better than someone just because I beat them at a game.

I do not think this is exclusively for chess players. This counts for others sports as well or even businesses. I do not feel this happens more or less in the chess world. If you really are interested in this you should read some psychology books or journals i guess :)

And meet more chess players, to wide the range.

It´s the nature of the game,  so this is my advice and what is behind or who is behind of all this arrogance here

Its because we lack objectivity resulting in an inability to divorce our egocentricities from the events on the chessboard.

I agree. People who compete must cultivate self-confidence that often comes across as arrogant.

in my experience chessplayers are not usually arrogant but they are often aloof and this is often mistaken for arrogance.

Or maybe you mistake their arrogance for aloof, you do not know that. It's a matter of perception after all, only the player himself/herself knows his/her intentions.

Giri and Fischer are/were certainly not arrogant. Kasparov maybe, Not sure.

you can know if they are unrealistic about their abilities based on their behavior.

And how do you know they are not trying to mislead you with their behavior?

Women are crybabies.

Lots of women give birth.

Therefore lots of babies are crying crybabies.

But you do not know if someone is really realistic about one's abilities or is misleiding you here as well. So you can not know such things, merely suspect.

My point is that things like arrogance and aloof are just a matter of perspective from the judging side. In my opinion it says more about the one who judges than the one who is judged.
