Your standard rating is lower because you have less time to think therefore you lose more often, in addition there are less people playing live chess so the pool stagnates more. Its lower than your OTB rating for some of the same reasons but also because USFC players as a pool are probably weaker than the average of players on this site, the oposite would be true for Russians they would probably have a higher live rating because this site is on average weaker than the players available in Russia.
Why are live standard chess rating deflated?
I'm not convinced, IM Rensch's standard rating was around 1800 last I checked, and we can agree he's a pretty phenomenal player. And Hicetnunc, if that were true, why is my rating on other online sites also higher?
I mean, my chess.com live standard is significantly deflated compared to my other sites, and slightly deflated compared to OTB USCF.
So you mean my 1500 standard rating is higher? Yay! Perhaps explained why I had a better position than a 1900 player for 30 moves, as well as drawed a 1830 player, all in a tournament with one hour time control

i need to add that everytime rensch is playing he is playing lots of players at the same time in simuls and stuff. This really kills his rating
Tigergutt, this is completely true, but Rensch has admitted himself on video that standard live ratings are deflated. I'm still curious as to why.
Note, it doesn't bother me! I'm still playing chess, the number involved doesn't really matter. I was just curious. On most other sites, standard ratings are inflated, blitz and bullet deflated.
If we find the answer, how does it benefit us? ELO ratings mean nothing, only ELO differences have meaning.
Topic;
My live standard rating here on chess.com is lower than my standard rating on other sites, and lower than my USCF OTB rating.
I know why ratings differ from pool to pool, but can anyone shed some light as to why chess.com's standard live is so deflated?
