Because I wanted to say a lot of stuff to get to a simple point.

because i give them (the rematches), too. When the opponent loses, he almost always wants a rematch, but when he wins he's not into rematching anymore. He runs scared like a chicken.

So are we talking just one rematch? What if they want another one? Are we obligated to keep playing until neither person asks to play again?

I'm not scared - I simply need a break after playing a difficult game.

Hi.
I nearly accepted every rematch. May be 2 games that I missed because I didn't click accept in time.
But I accept that other people have their reasons to play or not play rematch. That's ok.
I also sent rematch a few games. When we are very equal in game but he (she) made an easy blunder.
And I think may be we could try again because it is a good game.

I read some comments and next time I will be more careful before send rematch request.
Thank you.  happy

I don't understand why people don't understand that me not offering them a rematch, win or lose, just means I didn't find the game very interesting, so I don't have an incentive to play them again. I only really offer rematches after back-and-forth games; if it's one-sided I just move on.

I play mostly 30min games, so a rematch would take a lot of extra time. And I usually play only one game a day and analyze it immediately afterwards. So I don't usually accept rematches in rapid, but in blitz I do (but I don't play that very often)

I often find that. They tend to try so hard all of a sudden & it's a pity they didn't try harder first time round. I rematch if I think someone has something to teach me, if I'm not tired, not just played my last game of the session, if I don't want to analyse, if I haven't already found another opponent, if that opponent hasn't annoyed me in any way ..... I won't rematch if they have an obviously bad internet .... etc etc.

I don't accept rematches either. And the reason is simply why not to just play a new game against a new opponent? I never send rematches nor accept them, because I just simply want to play some new opponent, whether I lost or won. It is just how I like it though.

My thinking is that the creation of the league format is the sole reason why people decline to play a customary rematch. They don't have time for a rematch since it doesn't boost their league score. Once they reach Legend they will return to accepting or offering a rematch. Lastly, I can't say when it happened but I have let go of the feeling that a win or loss vs any particular opponent as being significant. Some handle loss with sending rude messaging, some want an immediate rematch which feels like a desparate attempt to restore a damaged ego. For me it's a good game and I'm off to the next game.

Some people aren't just scared of a rematch, they are terrified. It's an irrational fear of taking the chance that the next game might not go as planned. All sorts of things could go wrong. Wrong decisions everywhere. It's called atelophobia. Common treatment therapy for atelophobia, or fear of a rematch, are medications such as tranquilizers and anti depressants. Treatment can also include mental health help from qualified therapists.

Help is out there for those who need it.

I am not, scared. I usually don't have the time for more than one game a day, some days not even that. I have many duties.

I have zero desire to play the same person again that I don’t know in real life. I only get rematch requests when I win. I never get them if I lose. That says a lot.

so true and if you lost they mostly only do it if they think they can win again

Interestingly enough, a few days ago I rematched someone in blitz four times. He won three and lost the fourth. He initiated all previous rematches. After the fourth, I asked for a rematch and he just left. By your logic he must be scared.

Such bravado.

We must think differently. If they have bad internet, why not take the free points? Rematch, rematch, rematch 😁
