Why are you here?

I'm kinda new around here and something grabbed my attention.

This is a chess forum right? but threads on Game analysis, Showcase, Openings, Beginners etc. sections usually get a few replies, and mostly from same people.

Some threads has good amount of posts but when you look at them closely, they are either posted by OP's friends (mostly a few words or smiley) or some are fighting eachother..

Other sections, like off-topic or general chess (which is mostly used as off-topic) are too crowded. Why is this? Aren't we here because we are interested in chess?

Sure, people here like chess (to varying degrees) but humans have multiple interests, and so not all topics are exclusively about chess.

As for why there are so many worthless topics, that's because moderation here is very lax, because staff doesn't give a sh*t. Also something like this

I know people are tent to do unnecessarry things in general. But this is a spesific place, and people here are not like the other people you see all around everyday..

Let me put it this way; if you go to an archery club you hear archery related talks mostly.. because thats why those people are there.. 

Why isn't it applied here as well? Chess is not that popular sport, i wonder why people who already chose to come here, are not interested in real chess related topics.

One reason is it's mostly children these days.

And after years of lax moderation, people who talk seriously about chess have left, or at least don't come here expecting to talk about chess.

I think the games ones are fine and stuff if your into chess...

& maybe join some Chess related clubs like there are some dedicated matches and information clubs... like tactical brothers, phil's finest club etc... or some small eg Pawn_stars club thats dedicated to team matches

I guess you can not indulge in the off topic section... or the general discussion one?

I don't have any of those... Look at twitter for MMA and stuff though

Thanks for giving me an existential crisis!!  In seriousness, though, I’m on Chess.com to play chess, and occasionally see what other chess players like to think about in their free time.
