Sure, people here like chess (to varying degrees) but humans have multiple interests, and so not all topics are exclusively about chess.
As for why there are so many worthless topics, that's because moderation here is very lax, because staff doesn't give a sh*t. Also something like this

I'm kinda new around here and something grabbed my attention.
This is a chess forum right? but threads on Game analysis, Showcase, Openings, Beginners etc. sections usually get a few replies, and mostly from same people.
Some threads has good amount of posts but when you look at them closely, they are either posted by OP's friends (mostly a few words or smiley) or some are fighting eachother..
Other sections, like off-topic or general chess (which is mostly used as off-topic) are too crowded. Why is this? Aren't we here because we are interested in chess?
