Why aren't the forums more serious?

I'm aware that chess is a game. But it's a game of intellect so why does the forum look like YouTube or Facebook? I'm not looking for an answer because I have my own opinions that I bet alot of folk share. It's just something curious, we could be helping build great players and new world wide relationships but instead it's just all amounted to shit. excuse my latin. Also as a side note would not chess.com share money by refining the rules and guidelines of the forum? At least save server space? All in I love chess.com but the community has a few piles that need cleaning up so that everyone could profit and enjoy the game.

Exactly!

After 45 minutes I've come to this conclusion for myself. -- Don't use the forums --.

That sound like a good solution if you don't like the forums. However, I'm sure there are helpful and interesting topics.

There is so much but you need to weed through so much useless typing. For example, Kaynight, I think this person just wants to see his thoughts in print next to his name so he is compelled to always post -nothing-

Avatar of TheBlunderfulPlayer

In what way does that bother you? Don't read the posts you don't like. It's that simple.

1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. c3 Nf6 4. d4 d6 5. d5 * What would your thoughts,plans, and ideas be here? For both sides.

Personally, I wouldn't play the Ponziani (3. c3). It isn't bad, but the move 3. c3 is premature. White needs to continue development and play c3 at the right time in order to support the d4 pawn advance. In the line you gave, White has a spacial advantage and begins to chase Black's knight around. On the other hand, it leaves the d-pawn somewhat overextended. As Black, I'll just continue my development. (Never underestimate development!) If possible, I might try to take advantage of White's overextended d-pawn.

My friend (the oppenent ) and I were just working on ideas and learning together with this. I suck playing against agressiviness. We use to play on chess with friends but the analyze board enables use to keep notes so we don't get lost when we come back the next day. Thanks for that input. Do you know any traps that can arise here ?

Avatar of TheBlunderfulPlayer

I don't know any traps in that specific line. However, in the Ponziani, the are some traps in which Black plays Nxe4??, only to lose a piece after Qa4+. The Ponziani is notorious for having many traps in it.

If you are serious about chess, stay away from the forums. The forums are for smart alecs who think IQ has nothing to do with chess, whereas real intelligent people go for it in chess.

 Talking to me?

Avatar of Bishop_g5

I thought IQ has to do with forums. The more intelligent someone is the greater bullshit will post!

Avatar of Bishop_g5

I know! Truth is angly and makes me angry! 😡 and then my IQ falls 73 points leading me to the bored chessboard.

The forum moderation (or lack thereof) is one of the things I am most dissatisfied with on this site.

Trolls and spammers taking over most of the forums is just the logical consequence of it I guess.

But it's Eriks site, so he can do whatever he wants to with it. *shrug*

And it won't change. Probably to expensive to put a real team on it.

The word "free" invites a lot of chaos

You're right, but how can you deal with ALL the trolls and spammers? It's out of control.
