Why can't you figure out how to thwart malicious disconnectors?

@VibrantMoves - he's sharp-witted and mean-spirited.  Good for a laugh and good for nothing at the same time.

VibrantMoves

Nah. He's good. :) You gotta read his posts before you start to be judgemental about him. He's really cool.

On a different note, I liked some of the topics you highlighted. Very nice.

Knightly_News

@VibrantMoves.  Yeah. I'm experiencing all his baked in goodness right now.

Knightly_News

@kaynight - chess is for me. I'm a paying consumer. I've spent hundreds of dollars here, and I've heard countless other people complaining about what is a *solveable* problem. I'm a software engineer. I know it can be solved. I find it annoying when we are pestered and solaced to see the message about 'violating policy' and then I see in the notes of these disconnectors years of angry disconnect victims. Just because you have time to waste being jerked around by a disconnector doesn't mean everyone appreciates it. I have a right to lobby for my position on the board. If you're so laid back, just ignore these threads, rather than trying to beat the crap out of anyone who offends your opinion on the matter.

VibrantMoves

Haha You fail to understand what I'm trying to say but that's okie. Thanks for highlighting some of the points though! I appreciate it. I have commented and supported you in almost all of them. Chess.com must consider such suggestions.

Knightly_News

@VibrantMoves - I'm not trying to be dismissive of what you mean.  I'm not denying kaynight is a smart guy and a good player and a wit, and has some good/respected qualities.  But he has been trolling me, and he's got a mean streak. That's all I'm saying. I thought you said that too, essentially.

VibrantMoves

Yes, I did say that but why argue about it? :) Please calm down. That's why I asked him why he likes to do it. You didn't say anything that deserve such response. Anyways, it's all cool now I guess. Good luck and good games to both of you!!

OP, I repeat it. Please calm down. You have no idea how many people can bash you for such posts even though you're absolutely right about what you posted. I'm untracking this thread now. Good luck with your games! There's no reason for you to aim everything at kaynight although I don't understand why he does it.

this is a pointless discussion

That's completely untrue, and lacking of integrity of you to profess certainty.

But I am willing to bet that people here enough to see your posting pattern will find you are a habitual troll (aka sociopath) who spends a great deal of time needling people sadistically to cause distress and don't provide benefit to the forums, but quite the opposite.

Foolish talk.   Silly talk.

Knyte is entertainment many people have an acquired taste for.  To equate what you define as being a troll to being a sociopath sounds more sociopathic to me.

Knyt seems like a Robin Hood kind of troll.   He reminds people who become too full of themselves they are taking things too seriously.

If I keep this  up he's going to have urges to start giving me some reminders.

" If I had to report everyone that pulled that kind of disconnecting stunt, I'd be spending all my time filing reports".    You seem to be spending all your time starting threads, IMO Undecided

Exactly, it is not against the rules of chess to use your own clock time, or am I missing something here. Are the rules on chess.com different to the rules of chess in general?

wanmokewan

Are you sure you have the patience for chess?

Robert_New_Alekhine

Keep a book or something else of interest handy for such cases.

Knightly_News

@wanmokewan - So you're saying chess.com should just write-off impatient players and not take their money? I pay chess.com to play chess and a lot of games in a row when I'm on my time. Whatever my personality type is not germane or relevant. Patient/impatient advanced or novice.  I always resign when I give up and never pull that stunt myself and expect others to do the same. Chess.com can solve the problem of disconnectors better than they do, so don't let chess.com off the hook so easily. Particuarly in light of that ominous but meaningless warning they post.

1. They can post-process games and detect a disconnect-on-loss or abandon-on-loss pattern.

2. They can improve the phone chess app by adding a preference to let advanced users waive resign confirmation, and should also be a way to resign super quick and completely for people who want to resign and leave in a huff.

Why don't you send this info directly to Eric. Maybe he'll hire you.Undecided

Some DCers are legit.

The chess.com app is absolute garbage when it comes to live chess. Sometimes it just disconnects even though i have full 3g connection. Which will sometimes disconnect me at random times. There have been games i lost after move 3 because the app freezes and decides to make it look like my opponents clock is running down even though its my move.

oh well.

Knightly_News

@umirin1991. But there wouldn't likely be a pattern of that happening only the moment the game turns strongly against the disconnector or soon thereafter.

wanmokewan

I'm a paying member, and do you see me whining?  No system is perfect; they DO have a system that pairs violators with other violators.  I knew before I paid that I would encounter bad losers and such.  It's simply a part of Internet chess.

I've had cases where the person resigned, then when I check their notes it's filled with complaints from other users.  To me, it's obvious that I got lucky or something else.

Finally, you're a premium member.  If someone disconnects, you can start another game while you wait for the other game to end.
