It's a largely generalized Statement and what I have mostly seen is that it's actually those who don't play chess that put the chess players on a pedestal ( they are super intelligent, smart etc) and that sort of creates an ego problem among immature chess players

Compared to the many groups of people I have encountered in life chess players seem to the nicest. Online is an entirely different thing. I think its the fact that people can remain anonymous causes them to act differently than how they would in real life.

A person's value in life is determined by his/her ELO. The higher the ELO, the more $$ a person makes and the better looking will be his/her soulmates. High ELO individuals receive automatic invites to parties/clubs from the British Royal Family, while low ELO people must clean their toilets. Those w/ELOs exceeding 3500 are pure-energy lifeforms that occasionally HELP low ELO folks by possessing them

People who play tournament chess generally don't see it because they are much more likely to believe the superiority based on rating.
