Any nation that does not use the Latin alphabet are world class at chess if they try and get funded.

Russians, Jews, Chinese, Indians

The Latin alphabet has kept more people from achieving GM than the amount of people not speaking German in Brazil.

It takes on average 4700 hours of study less for a Jew to become a GM than say and Englishman.

Source?

What do you mean ‘ source’?

For real man, the evidence is all around you. Jews, Russians and other non latin alphabet types have dominated the chess world for ages. How much evidence do you need? You can’t stick your head in the sand to reality until someone gives you a source.

You seem to be suggesting a causal link between use of a particular alphabet and chess success. That needs backing up with a source. As does the claim that Jews need 4700 fewer hours to reach GM level.

Further, while Russians, Jews, and Russian Jews do seem to have a track record of success, there has only ever been one Indian world champion, and no Chinese. This from a combined population of 2.5 billion, or more than a third of the global population.

We must remember only a handful of people in China are bred as chess players , the rest are bred as a superior factory workers.

You cannot say they are under represented as only about 5000 Chinese are bred for  chess every 4 years. In reality they are super well represented.

Ducking-Duck

Look at pfren...Greek alphabet...IM

A ton of latin alphabet users with the same specs as pfren won’t make it past  1800.

All non latin alphabets are not as powerful as others, Hebrew and Russian are obviously unbeatable.

only those who don't make the cut for factory work, get into the chess program.  inside sources tell the bunny this is their next prospective WGM.

She is busy practicing how to play a latin alphabet user.

They think of everything

sorry, we only know what to do with rude posters who spam ...

I just gave pfren a compliment, it is like sacrificing a bishop...was it a blunder or is it a trap?

He now has to calculate whether to crap on me out of habit or ignore it.

As we speak his superior Greek alphabet skills are at work, and he will either crap on me or ignore me much faster than any latin alphabet user.

Per Kramnik, because USSR became Russia.

Although China had a chess growth spurt in the mid 2000s, India's chess initiative will catch up and outshine the Chinese's accomplishments by mid 2020s. Why? Because Anand.

I just contacted Dr Strange and he confirmed that this outcome was not in one of the 14 million futures he saw. Sorry.

@pfren shows his legendary coordination, white/black square control and piece play.

Ducking-Duck

It only took pfren 3s to ignore me for the last ten minutes. If that doesn’t prove my point I don’t know what does.

But why does China need to breed chess players when they don't use the Latin (or any) alphabet? Isn't their non-use of any alphabet at all enough to ensure their rise to the top of the chess rankings?

Did you know the Latin alphabet is the official script of 131 nations? And co-official script of 12 more? That's 143 nations doomed to chess mediocrity if your theory is correct.

And they include Singapore and Indonesia, so you shouldn't bother promoting chess there. Thailand and Cambodia would be better choices.

Ducking-Duck

China does not need to breed superior chess players due to their alphabet, you are totally correct but as I pointed out not all non latin alphabets are equally powerful.

In order to beat the Hebrew alphabet you need the Chinese alphabet plus some breeding.

You are correct again on the alphabet stats, and indeed a 143 nations have been wallowing in the lifeless mire of mediocrity while the Jews, Russians and other non latin alphabet types have been dominating the chess world. How many more hundreds of years will it take before we see the obvious difference.

Ducking-Duck

Thailand and Cambodia might seem like good choices but there is also a thing called The Decorative Paradox.

The more decorative a non latin alphabet is the less useful it is for chess.

Ever wonder why Arabic nations are terrible at chess despite their alphabet? It is because their script is so decorative they literally use it as decoration on stuff.

Hebrew and Russian are raw, simple, to the point. The Jews even leave out the vowels, stuff you vowels ....that is hardcore stuff man, just the essentials, no decorative nothing. Net result : uber powerful chess.

I've always assumed Magnus uses the Latin alphabet,  but maybe he secretly uses the Nordic runes of his Viking ancestors. That is also a raw, no frills alphabet. Same goes for Bent Larsen.

But the Latin alphabet isn't all that ornate, really, though it does include five vowels. I'm not sure what the problem is there.

Ducking-Duck

You misunderstand , the Latin alphabet ruins your chess simply because it is the latin alphabet.

Ornateness lowers the power of non-latin alphabets only

The main problem with the latin alphabet is the type of languages it creates which in turn influences how you reason

English: I do say , it is rather warmish today what?

French: Mon dieu...it is...how you say in English...hot as a cow turd today

Hebrew: Hot ( everybody knows today is today why elaborate?)

chess...

English and French: should I move the rook or the bishop first? What if it fails? I couldn’t stand another loss. Maybe I should have started with the Ruy Lopez. i hate this. Ok, I will try the rook

Jew: eh... queen takes rook, checkmate
