why did Stockfish declined my challenge?

I laugh my ass off. I never knew a bot could decline a challenge?

The_economist9

Anyone can comment? I challenged it to a 10 second game. I challenged other bots too and they declined as well.

I think its because of the old time when u could just play random moves for like a millisecond and win stockfish (it thinks 3-4 secs)

idk about another bots though

st0ckfish

You are not worthy of challenging me.

It is impossible to beat an engine on time. Unless it is like 10 seconds. Arhhhhh so unfortunate chess engines have rules as well.

I seen stockfish lose to players who challenged it for 10 seconds. No wonder why that changed.

Same with other bots, I did this with multiple bots.

Stockfish rarely lose with 10 seconds. In fact, it is "internet leg/website lag" that cause the stockfish lose on time.

You can download Stockfsih in your computer and play offline Stockfish, Afaik, Stockfish can make a move within 20 milli seconds.

Pretty sure the engines here have zero lag.

There is usually move overhead 1000 to 2000 on online engine setting. In the internet, there are always traffics from user to server. (which we called lag, you cant avoid it) . In server computer, there is also a few milli seconds lag in communication between engine and GUI (Graphical user Interface or chessboard).

1000 means 1 second,

2000 means 2 seconds

Move overhead 1000 means, Stockfish think that she has 9 seconds remaining only use 9 seonds for her allocated time, although the game acutally has 10 seconds remaining. This is the way how engine communication works.

It is know here that Stockfish lose in time in 10 seonds in this server. If there is moveoverhead 3000 , I doubt Stofish will lose in time.

A post from Komodo Authour, Larry Kaufman post regarding move overhead,

I have beaten stockfish 8 times in 10 sec. Only stockfish spends exactly 5 seconds on the first move whereas other engines like komodo are quick. Also go to @stockfish account and see how many games it has lost. so chess.com fixed that by making minimum limit 1 min.

Guess I should have clarified. There wouldn't be any network lag between the Live server process and wherever the engines are running.

It will still take some time for the move to get transmitted to the Live server process, but it won't even put a dent in the lag compensation algorithm, this why I said their isn't any lag. Pretty sure the live server process and the hardware running the engines are in the same datacenter.
