The problem with a round robin tournament is guys can throw games or quit early. A match play scenario eliminates that.

yeah....in the position he resigned he was already a pawn down and his g pawn also looked weak...so probably it would be just a matter of time before he was 2 pawns down. I dont think I would want to try to defend that position against a strong player either.
