My nickname has been Skwerly since I was 15. It was given to me by a neighborhood dude because of the way I handled a skateboard. I'm Skwerly just about everywhere I go on the Net, and I never tire of it. I'm 34 now. :)
Because this is the BEST NAME in the wooooorld!

CATLOCK was my cat, i had her 20 years, she was hard as nails and would fight any cat who crossed her path. She was named after a crappy american tv show called Matlock in the late 1980's, i was smoking strange fags at the time and the name came through the haze ?. she died 3 years ago but she lives on in chess.com !

Saw it on a "Magic: the Gathering" card which my uncle used to play, though I never got into it.
My cat's name is Sambuca. so I'm called Samsamcat. Plus I have a really crappy memory, so it's easy to remember.

Boring:
+- 1992, I played a computer game, don't remember what it was (Warlords? Probably not).
The player had two pick two colors to represent his character or something, I picked scarlet and black, and then had to choose an 8 character name. Just added them together as Scarblac.
Then I started using it in MUDs, got used to it, found it useful that I'm the only Scarblac on the net, so I kept using it.
The exception is FICS, where I let Scarblac be banned because of addiction issues, and later started ElOso, after the Soul Coughing album I was listening to at the time.
Boring... But it's my Internet name, you have to live with your name :-)
