Some higher rated players are scared of sandbaggers who are 2200 but rated 850 or something. Then when the 1900 players gets destroyed they lose like loads of points and that.
Why do high rated accounts put out open challenges and then abort?

I've noticed that when i click challenges from high rated players (1700 and above mostly) on the open challenges section of live chess, a lot of the time they abort. Do you think this could be because they don't want to waste their time, or because they're afraid of losing? I find it a bit annoying when people put out OPEN challenges, and then see a 700 and then nope out of there. It is possible to adjust the rating range. Do you think I'm overreacting? Is there a reason to this?
