When you receive a gift, even if it's from the site I'm pretty sure, you don't actually get moved since the system is not designed to switch members back. You were likely credited with the value of the Diamond and if you wanted to you can upgrade for the term of the gift with no additional charge. If you decide to do that you would need to manually downgrade at the end of the term or it would continue at diamond and use your platinum credit towards that.
