Why do I play so badly with the black pieces? (serious)

White has a wider choice of good moves, for black the choice of good moves is narrower. Especially in a sharp opening like the Sicilian there sometimes is only one move to stay in the game. Just play more carefully and think longer about every move. Black is OK.

Yeah, I try to play more solid openings as black, maybe I'm not playing as confrontational as I should, but it's hard finding confrontational moves as black

You've won over 80% of your games on this account. No one can give you advice on this if you don't play a few dozen games against your peers.

You score better with black.

I downloaded all your blitz games and had chessbase run the stats.

I used wins + 1/2 draws / total games = what you score.

For all 1892 games you score:
White: 50.35%
Black: 49.6%

Or if you round, you score 50% and 50% tongue.png

For games only this year (2021) you score:
white: 51.55%
black: 62.5%

---

So you score better with black.

This is pretty common for topics of this nature... people's perceptions and reality are often very different.

It seems that no matter how much I study as black and play, I still get confused with black, yeah I admit that for a long time I've studied and practiced mostly as white, but over time my black skill has improved, but now that it has, it feels as if every time I win as white, I lose as black immediately the next game, and I would like advice on how to improve if anyone's out there reading this. I play the French Sicillian (only against Bowlders attack or some Alapin crap no one wants to play against) Kan Sicillian (I've started playing this less) and also Najdorf Sicillian (I've started playing this more often nowadays) as well as Caro Kann. Also, I play on Lichess, I'm rated 1900 there.

Could be that you spent too much time during your development studying black openings and your intuition didn't have time to develop during that one side. It's the opposite for me; I win most games with black. Could be because many of the common white openings I play against give me comfortable positions.

Looking at your blitz stats, you score slightly better with white.

yeah, this does seem the most likely, I'd spent so much time seeking lines for sicillian kan so this could very well be the case honestly
