Have you looked at your ratings?
What do you mean?
actually, you played bad in both the games. your opponent just played exceptionally terrible in the first. no offense, just clearing up any misconceptions.
I don't have time for 30 minute games, but I will try the self-analysis first next time. I do currently go through the engine analysis and try to understand the engine's recommended moves. Thanks.

I admit that I definitely could've improved (e.g. in my good game, I missed an early checkmate), but still, comparatively I'd definitely say that I played better (not necessarily good by your standards) in that game rather than the other, which is what I mean.
It happens I believe for a various of reasons. There is no (because your opponent had a bad day situation, unless you are just ok at chess). for instance I have gone up to 1800's in rating and then all the suddenly in one day Iam just having a hell of a week - were I go from 1800's to 1600's. Inconsistency on your behalf for sure, must players tend to play the same game over and over. I happen to get bored easily so I go for something new and stick to it until I lose-lose-lose. It also irritates me those who win one game and don't want a rematch, once im easily frustrated thats it - all week will be losing matches. Im trying to learn that once I start losing to take a long break from chess, but is not easy.
Congratulations, you're human! :-)
That is what I was thinking. Ratings don't matter here. GMs go through similar rating fluctuations too. Sometimes rating goes up and down because of variance and the nature of the rating system. Other times, it is based on some inconsistency on our part (lack of sleep, tilt, not enough to eat etc.)
Rating swings are human and everyone serious with chess experiences it. If you played exactly the same ALL the time, that is suspicion to think you are using an engine or are a computer/robot yourself!
Sometimes I play like a Master, and sometimes I play like a moron.
It averages out.
Personally, I think that consistency is one of the key traits that separates titled players from the rest of us goombahs.

These blogs will help you find out the reasons
Sometimes I play a series of games with about 25% best moves and 3-4 blunders each. Other times, I play a bunch of games in a row with 65% best moves and 0 blunders. How come?
Examples:
Good game
Bad game (featuring computer analysis)
