why do more guys join chess club then women?

A couple of weeks ago, the media noted the 40th anniversary of the tennis match between Billie Jean King & Bobbie Riggs.  The sad point is that it didn't change anything.  Tennis (at the championship level) is still segregated between the sexes.  Not to mention other sports such as basketball, volleyball and yes... even chess.  Chess which should be the first venue for letting women compete for the WC. 

One previous poster noted that a lot of doors have been opened to let women in to all kinds of opportunities.  True, but a lot are still closed.  Can anyone give me a good reason as to why women are kept out of the WC of chess?

I think women and men don't share restroom either. lol

Hey, girl, don't let it get you down!  

Think of it this way:  They have the advantage of being part of the patriarchal power structure.  The have more upper body physical strength.  When it comes to chess, they have more time to work at it because they don't spend as much time as we do developing and maintaining deep emotional relationships.  So if We can get even the Slightest advantage in Any contest by distracting them with cleavage, even a Little Bit, I say we're entitled to use it!  ;-)

P.S. At my age, this is more about fond memories than future strategies...

a big shout out for our strongest female player at my club who recorded the only win v a very strong team and for her work in youth chess development i withold her name for obvious reasons but the contribution she makes is much appreciated

well then guys need to understand that as much as  we like being checked out, we don't want to be checked out at a refuge for nerds. because most likely (and  in my case) we aren't that "smokin" as ya'll think.

Women generally think guys at chess clubs are creepy and do not wish to involve themselves in any activities with them.

I play chess.....and trust me ---->  I LOVE SHOPPING!   specially if Im shopping for shoes!!!  OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!  hahahahaha
